SSG is launching a new chemical service for the forest industry – SSG Chemcontrol – which is a tool to assist customers in organising and keeping track of their chemical information.
This service is a refinement of SSG ChemWeb and includes, in addition to a web-based application, administrative assistance to help customers register and update safety data sheets in the associated database.
Customers have the opportunity to purchase a link to the substance database to be able to view detailed information on the substances being used.
SSG has signed an agreement for database administration with Argentum, a company based in Skellefteå, Sweden. Argentum has lengthy experience in the administration of safety datasheets and a smoothly functioning organisation that will benefit both SSG and its customers in this new undertaking.
Chemical committee being considered
SSG has made efforts to unite the forest industry in a joint solution for collaboration in issues concerning chemicals. If there is sufficient interest a chemical committee will be formed during the autumn. A message to gauge interest will be sent to the chemical groups at the mills during the spring.
SSG Chemcontrol will be available starting in October 2008.
